Future Proof our Children

As parents, our current founders believe that our children, beside the need of academic success, are in need of a more holistic approach to prepare them to grow healthily, physically and mentally.
For adults working in the society, there are many skill sets needed to thrive in the workplace that are not widely taught in academic schools, e.g. presentation skill, structural thinking skill, etc.
When we only have the hammer (a skill) in the toolbox, everything (challenge) is fixed with a nail (solution). Regardless what the challenge is, we will hammer it down since that is the only way we know. Example, we need to hang a picture frame on a wooden surface (challenge), a nail (solution) will do the job, the hammer (skill) will be perfect. In the event there is no nail left but a screw, it will be unfortunate if we use the hammer (only skill we have) to try nail the screw. With extra effort by applying more force, the screw may be able to secure the picture frame. Beside the extra effort, likely the surface will have crack lines. Although this is not a perfect solution, somehow it does the job for the time being. We do face such situations many times in life, be it at home or at work.
There are many challenges and only equipping ourselves with a hammer is not enough. We need to learn how to apply the correct tool to the challenge we are facing so that we can effortlessly overcome any obstacle in front of us. The more tools we have in our toolbox naturally put us in a better position.
The best time to expose ourselves to the various tools (skills) is when we are young, before old habits are cast in stone. Skills need to be developed and enhanced as we grow. So it is always wise to start young.
